It honors the arrival on earth of Lord Ganesha. The elephant-headed God said to bring wisdom and remove all the Obstacles from the path of the lives of true believers.
The image of Lord Ganesha with a human body and an elephant’s head is very interesting to watch. It is said that once Load Shiva not knowing the Ganesha was his son, killed him out of anger and ignorance and when Parwati insisted that the boy should be given life immediately. Load Shiva fixed an elephant’s head on a Ganesha shoulder. From that they Ganesha is worshiped as a God of Learning knowledge and Vidhya Fighting against Avidhya and ignorance.
In this way, Ganesha has a great mythological significance and considered as ‘Buddhi Pradaayaka‘ and ‘Vigana Harta‘ his worship once in the year is also a great significance.
People bring and Idea of Ganesha to home very happy and perform puja for ten days with the full devotion and faith. They perform Ganpati Visarjan the end of puja on the 11th day means on Anant Chaturdashi to see of the Ganesha this year and come again next year.
